Overview
The Lumberjack outfit is one of the fastest skilling outfits to obtain in all of OSRS. Most players complete the full set in under 30 minutes of Temple Trekking, with no Woodcutting level required at all. It also provides a 2.5% Woodcutting XP bonus when worn as a full set. This guide covers the fastest, most consistent route to collect all four pieces.
Requirements
- In Aid of the Myreque (to unlock Temple Trekking) — 25 Agility, 25 Crafting, 15 Mining, 7 Magic
- Bring an axe, knife, and food. Lower combat levels will want better combat gear and extra food.
Recommended: Darkness of Hallowvale — 5 Construction, 20 Mining, 22 Thieving, 26 Agility, 32 Crafting, 33 Magic, 40 Strength
Location

Start at the north gate of Burgh de Rott. The quickest ways to get there are Morytania legs 3 or 4, Mor’ton teleport scrolls, the Barrows teleport (teleport tabs, the Arceuus spellbook, or a POH portal), or a minigame teleport to Shades of Mort’ton.
How to Get the Lumberjack Outfit
To begin, choose to escort Fyiona Fray north to Paterdomus. Route 1 lets you avoid every combat encounter and focus solely on finding the one event that drops Lumberjack pieces.

The Lumberjack Outfit Encounter (Most Important Part)
There is only one Temple Trekking encounter that can award a Lumberjack outfit piece — the zombie bridge event — and it’s what you’re hunting for on every run. When you reach it, kill the zombies until you get a piece. The encounter has a 1 in 4 chance to award a piece each time, and whenever it does, it’s always a piece you don’t already own — so there are no duplicates to worry about.

Watch out: there’s another zombie encounter that looks almost identical but cannot drop any Lumberjack pieces. The way to tell them apart: the incorrect encounter has trees in the circled area. If you see those trees, it’s the wrong one — don’t waste time on it.
If the first wave of zombies doesn’t drop a piece, just wait for the next wave — it spawns in about 30 seconds and you don’t need to leave the encounter. Once you receive a Lumberjack piece you’re done with the event, since you can only get one piece per encounter.
After the drop, use the planks on the bridge to repair it and continue your trek.

Evading Unnecessary Encounters
For maximum efficiency, evade every encounter except the Lumberjack zombie bridge event. Skipping them cuts your run time significantly and keeps combat to a minimum, which matters most for lower-level accounts.

One Encounter You Cannot Evade
There’s a single encounter you can’t skip. Use your knife to cut 3 vines from the smaller trees, wind them together into a Long vine, then throw it onto the larger tree’s branch and swing across the river. Forgot your axe or knife? Search the nearby backpack to grab one.

Repeat the Process
After completing a trek north to Paterdomus, you’ll escort the mage back to Burgh de Rott to start another run. Each time, the process is the same: guide Fyiona Fray or the mage along Route 1, evade the unnecessary encounters, and only stop for the correct zombie bridge event.

Keep running treks until you’ve collected all four pieces. With average luck most players finish the full set in under 30 minutes, and good RNG can make it much quicker. As a bonus, you’ll also bank several Temple Trekking reward tokens along the way, which can be exchanged for supplies or XP tomes.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to get the Lumberjack outfit?
With average luck, most players complete the full four-piece set in under 30 minutes of Temple Trekking, and faster with good RNG. The correct encounter has a 1 in 4 chance to award a piece each time you reach it.
What is the Lumberjack outfit XP bonus?
The full set gives a 2.5% Woodcutting XP bonus. Each individual piece gives a smaller bonus on its own (roughly 0.4–1% depending on the piece), so it’s worth wearing pieces as you collect them rather than waiting for the full set.
Do you need a quest for Temple Trekking?
Yes. You need to complete In Aid of the Myreque to unlock Temple Trekking, which has its own skill requirements (25 Agility, 25 Crafting, 15 Mining, 7 Magic). Darkness of Hallowvale is recommended but not required.
Is the Lumberjack outfit worth it?
Yes, mainly because it’s so quick to get rather than for the bonus itself. The 2.5% Woodcutting XP boost is modest, but the outfit takes well under an hour to collect, has no Woodcutting level requirement, and is a permanent upgrade — so the time-to-value is excellent. It’s one of the easiest skilling outfits in the game to justify grabbing early.
