Rogue’s Outfit Guide OSRS – How to Get It Fast

The Rogue Outfit is one of the most useful skilling outfits in Old School RuneScape. Wearing all five pieces guarantees double loot when pickpocketing NPCs, which makes it a must-have before any long-term Thieving grind, especially Wealthy Citizens or Ardougne Knights. You get it from the maze in the Rogues’ Den, and it takes about 48 minutes on average at 50 Thieving, or about 23 minutes at 80 Thieving with the shortcut.

• 50 Thieving (can’t be boosted)
• 50 Agility (can’t be boosted)

The obstacles in the maze drain Agility and the traps drain Thieving. If either would fall below zero, you’re sent back to the lobby and have to start again.

Suggested: 80 Thieving for the shortcut, which nearly halves the run. Below about 55 Agility you’ll want a stamina potion as well.

Rogue Mask, Rogue Top, Rogue Gloves, Rogue Trousers, Rogue Boots

The full set is what matters. The chance of double loot jumps from 60% with four pieces to 100% with all five:

You still get normal XP, not double. The effect only works on pickpocketing, so it does nothing for stalls, chests, Pyramid Plunder or Hallowed Sepulchre.

• Location: Rogues’ Den, under the Toad and Chicken inn in Burthorpe
• Required levels: 50 Agility and 50 Thieving, not boostable
• Shortcut: 80 Thieving
• Bring: Nothing. No items, worn gear or pets are allowed in the maze
• Risk: None. Traps deal no damage, and the maze is safe for all accounts except Hardcore Group Ironmen
• Average attempts: 11–13 safe cracks for the full set

Use a Games Necklace to teleport to Burthorpe, run south to the Toad and Chicken inn, then go down the trapdoor near the bartender. Bank everything with Emerald Benedict at the bottom before you enter.

Speak to Brian O’Richard the first time. After that you can go straight through the doorway. If you’re using a stamina potion, drink a dose before entering, then drop or smash the vial, because you can’t take it in with you.

Turn on the Rogues’ Den plugin to highlight the route, or import the tile markers from the OSRS Wiki. On mobile, you can mark tiles manually or follow the video.

The Maze

These are the parts that catch people out:

• Run past traps. Stop just before a row of floor traps, then click past them while running. You can cross many of them without triggering them.
• Mosaic door: take the south-eastern tile.
• Guard: pick up the flash powder, use it on the guard, then run past while he’s stunned.
• Save your Agility. Keep at least 6 Agility for the last two obstacles.
• Skip the extras. The chest only gives 10 coins, and the gear door doesn’t lead anywhere useful.

A run takes about 3 minutes 40 seconds on the long route.

Level 80 Thieving Shortcut

At 80 Thieving, you can pick the locked doors in the west part of the maze. This skips most of the long route and cuts a run to about 2 minutes.

Wall Safes

Only the eight safes at the end of the maze can give the outfit. The four safes in the lobby only give gems and coins. It doesn’t matter which of the eight you crack.

Each attempt ends in one of these:

• Rogue’s equipment crate: choose any outfit piece you still need
• Rogue kit: a rope, chisel, tinderbox or spade
• Nothing: a failed crack can throw you out without a reward

The crate is about 40–47% per attempt, depending on your Thieving level. You pick your piece, so there are no duplicates. These are the wiki’s averages using stamina potions and no risks with traps, so your own time can be well above or below them:

The big drop is at 80 because of the shortcut. If you’re close to 80, it’s worth reaching it first. If you’re at 50–70, the extra levels barely change your time, so just go for it.
