Salvage, time and expected GP for a Sailing goal, with every shipwreck compared at live GE prices

How to use this calculator

About This Calculator

Shipwreck salvaging starts at level 15 Sailing. You get XP when a hook pulls up salvage, and more when you sort it at a salvaging station, which is also where the loot comes from. Crewmates can work a hook, but they earn 10% of your XP per salvage for each point of Deckhandiness.

The game does not publish hook success rates, so salvage per hour is yours to set. It starts at 280, the OSRS Wiki's figure for merchant shipwrecks on a sloop with 2 rune hooks. To measure your own, count your salvage over 10 minutes and multiply by 6.

How to Use

  1. Enter your levels — look up your username or type your current and target Sailing
  2. Set up your boat — your best crewmate on a hook and how much of the salvage you hook yourself
  3. Set your salvage per hour — this drives the time, XP/hr and GP/hr figures
  4. Choose the highest wreck to use — the plan moves up to better wrecks as you unlock them, stopping here
