About This Calculator

The Motherlode Mine Calculator helps you plan your Mining training by estimating how many pay-dirt you need to mine, what ores you'll receive, how many golden nuggets you'll earn, the GP value of your ores, and how long it will take to reach your target level or unlock specific rewards.

Ore rates are calculated using the exact game formulas — a cascading roll system where each pay-dirt rolls for ores from highest tier downward. Rates shift as you level up, and this calculator tracks that level-by-level for accurate results.

How to Use

Enter your details: Input your current Mining level and XP, or use the lookup button to fetch them from the OSRS Hiscores
Set your goals: Choose a target level and/or select the rewards you want to unlock with golden nuggets
Configure settings: Choose your pickaxe, mining method, indicate which prospector pieces you already own, and toggle diary/glory bonuses
Calculate: Click the Calculate button to see pay-dirt needed, ore breakdown, nuggets earned, GP estimates, and time

Full prospector outfit (180 nuggets total) gives a 2.5% Mining XP bonus. Set bonus is not additive with individual pieces.

Pro Tips

Upper Level: Unlocked at 57 Mining for 100 nuggets. Veins last longer and are closer together — significantly faster.
Bonus XP from cleaning: Each pay-dirt gives 60 XP when mined, plus bonus XP when cleaned (15 for coal/gold, 30 for mithril, 45 for adamantite, 75 for runite). This calculator factors that in.
Falador Elite Diary: Adds roughly +1% runite, +2% adamantite, and +1% mithril chance — worth completing for long-term mining.
Ore is determined at mining time: Use boosts (dragon pickaxe spec, dwarven stout) while mining, not while cleaning.
Varrock armour: The double-ore bonus from Varrock armour does not work at Motherlode Mine.

Falador Elite Diary increases high-tier ore rates (~1% runite, ~2% adamantite, ~1% mithril). Amulet of Glory increases gem chance from ~1/256 to ~1/86 while mining.
