Next, just start mining. You can receive unidentified minerals from any of the rocks inside the Mining Guild, and the drop chance varies by rock.

The absolute fastest way to gather minerals is power-mining iron, which will take somewhere in the vicinity of 10 to 12 hours for the full 180. On the opposite end, you could AFK mine amethyst, but that requires level 92 Mining. Any combination of rocks in between works too; it just comes down to how much attention you want to give it.

Once you have 40 unidentified minerals, head back to Belona and purchase the Mining Gloves. Wearing them while you mine Iron, Coal, or Gold gives rocks a chance not to deplete, which means fewer clicks and more relaxed mining for the rest of the grind.

Now you’re essentially going to repeat the process. Collect 100 more unidentified minerals, then return to Belona and purchase the Superior Mining Gloves. These give extra ore from the lower level rocks and also add Mithril and Adamantite rocks into the mix.

Mine just 40 more unidentified minerals. This time, speak with Belona while carrying your Mining Gloves, Superior Mining Gloves, and the 40 minerals. She will combine both pairs for a fee of 40 minerals and present you with the Expert Mining Gloves. Congratulations! Just remember you’ll need 70 Mining to actually wear them.

If you are an ironman and plan on mining amethyst for darts or arrows, or grinding out sandstone for 99 Crafting, then yes — they are absolutely worth it. If that’s not in your plans, they aren’t worth investing dedicated time into unless you pick them up passively while training Mining in the guild anyway.
