Overview
Brutus, also known as the Cow Boss, is a level 30 boss unlocked after completing the Ides of Milk quest in Old School RuneScape.
He is located in the Lumbridge cow pen and uses melee attacks along with a few telegraphed special attacks that are easy to avoid. This guide explains his mechanics, recommended gear, and how to unlock Hard Mode.

Brutus Mechanics
- Melee Attacks – Brutus primarily attacks with melee.

Brutus Drops
Brutus drops several unique items, including the only F2P defender, the Mooleta. It is also one of the easiest boss pets to get in the entire game with a 1/1000 drop rate and a fight that takes under 10 seconds for higher leveled players.

How to Unlock Hard Mode Brutus
After defeating Brutus in the quest, you can unlock a harder version of the fight with improved mechanics.
To unlock Demonic Brutus, you must feed hit an abyssal potato from the Scar, which requires completion of Desert Treasure II. You can get there by teleporting to Guardians of the Rift and traveling with the Catalytic Guardian or just by using the Ring of Shadows. Pick the growth to receive an abyssal potato – you’ll probably need more than one!
