Overview
Looking for a simple and relaxing way to grind Tempoross solo? This method focuses on consistency while still gaining a good amount of xp and permits. You’ll earn roughly 7500 points and 8 or 9 permits per game (roughly 60 per hour) with minimal effort and no stress. Perfect for anyone who wants a chill way to collect permits without being super sweaty.

Requirements
- 60+ Fishing
- Ability to count
I was able to consistently do this method with 65 fishing. You might not be able to successfully do this method with anything under 60 fishing, so it is best to get your fishing level somewhere around there.
Preparation
For this strategy to work, you need 9 items in your inventory. The more buckets of water the better! If you don’t have the Spirit Angler’s Outfit, you will need a rope. I also bring a hammer for the occasional Construction xp (Ironman btw). If you setup your inventory like the image below, you won’t have to do any counting! There should be 4 rows above your items.

Strategy
This solo Tempoross strategy uses 3 phases to defeat Tempoross. The only phase that you really have to pay attention is Phase 1 because there is a possibility of failure. Phases 2 and 3 are relaxing and only require half attention. If you are going for the combat achievement “Why Cook?” you’ll just make a few changes to the Phase 3 strategy, which I will explain below.
Phase 1

- Fish 8 fish – As soon as the game begins, run over to a fishing spot and gather 8 fish
- Cook Fish – Cook the fish. YOU MIGHT NOT COOK ALL 8. IT IS MORE IMPORTANT TO HEAD TO THE DOUBLE FISH SPOT AS SOON AS IT SPAWNS.
- Double Fish – Head to the double fish spot as soon as it appears and get as many fish as you can.
- Tidal Wave – Brace for the tidal wave. It will appear as soon as the double fishing spot despawns.
- Cook Fish – STOP WHEN YOU HAVE 16 TOTAL FISH COOKED.
- Deposit Fish – Deposit your 16 cooked fish. MUST BE EXACTLY 16 COOKED FISH.
- Douse Fires – Put out all of the fires that appeared on your side of the island.
- Fish and Cook Entire Inventory* – Fish and cook your entire inventory, which is 19 total fish. Utilize the double fish spawns when possible.
- Deposit Entire Inventory – 19 total cooked fish.
- Fish Whirlpool – Once your inventory has been deposited, head to the Whirlpool and fish until the Energy is back to 100%.
If the Storm Intensity ever gets to 100%, the game will end. If you are a lower fishing level or get unlucky with double fish, this is the section where you could fail. Be sure to get on the boat when the Storm Intensity reaches 92%. If you don’t have all 19 fish, put in 3 to make Tempoross submerge, then IMMEDIATELY fish the whirlpool. Once the Essence gets under 65%, fish, cook, and deposit 19 total cooked fish. This will be done while Tempoross is submerged and during the beginning of Phase 2. After you have deposited 19 cooked fish, continue Phase 2 as normal. If this doesn’t make sense, watch the video above and I will show an example.
Phase 2
Finally the relaxing part of this solo Tempoross guide is here! Fish at the double fish spot when it is available and cook when it isn’t.
- Fish and Cook Entire Inventory – Fish and cook your entire inventory, which is 19 total fish. Utilize the double fish spawns when possible.
- Deposit Entire Inventory – 19 total cooked fish.
- Fish Whirlpool – Once your inventory has been deposited, head to the Whirlpool and fish until the Energy is back to 100%.
Phase 3
If you don’t need the “Why Cook?” Combat Achievement, Phase 3 is exactly the same as Phase 2.
Congrats you have subdued Tempoross all by yourself! This should have taken 9 minutes and gotten you 8-9 permits with roughly 7500 points. Repeat until you get sick of it 🙂
If you are going for the “Why Cook?” Combat Achievement, it is done during Phase 3. Instead of depositing 19 cooked fish, drop some of your items to do anywhere from 23-28 cooked fish. The lower the Essence is, the more items you can drop and successfully cook in time. Try to go for the combat achievement when the Essence is under 20% for Phase 3. You’ll be able to increase your points and guarantee a 10th permit instead of hoping to get 10. You need 8300 points to guarantee 10 permits.

FAQ
What level do I need to solo Tempoross?
65+ with a regular harpoon will work. 60+ MIGHT work, but I haven’t done proper testing. I have been able to get it every time with 65 fishing and barehanded fishing from Barbarian Training.
What is the “Why Cook?” combat achievement, and how do I get it?
It is the only Tempoross CA that requires any sort of brainpower. To achieve it, follow the guide and drop some items during Phase 3. Check out the video or box above for a more complete view.
Can I AFK this solo Tempoross method?
Completely AFK is a bit of a stretch. Low attention in Phases 2 and 3 is more accurate.
Can Ironmen do this solo Tempoross strategy?
Yes. It is designed with Ironmen in mind!
